Hello! I've been editing WP since April 2014, and I've been called a quick learner. I appreciate the advice and help I've received and I enjoy being of service when I can. I enjoy collaboration, and I try to keep the tone constructive even when disagreements happen.

I have a college degree in bioscience and an interest in the intersection of western medicine and holistic health. I believe that both have an important role in health care, and both can learn from each other. Holistic methods benefit from the data that western medicine provides (bloodwork, imaging, etc). Alternative medicine also has the opportunity to become more effective using scientific methods of inquiry. Western medicine can benefit from the "big picture" lens of holistic thinking, as well as the various tools that alternative medicine offers, filling in the gaps where western medicine doesn't have much to offer. Here on WP, we editors have the opportunity to increase the public's understanding of their options while also keeping a high standard for scientific thinking. Given this, much of my editing is in Alternative Medicine topics, as there's much room for improvement in the articles in this area. I'll also be pursuing other health related topics and will definitely be chiming in if I see any errors.

My other interests include language (especially word origins) and gardening. My biology degree didn't include any botany, so my plant knowledge is self-taught and there's always room to learn more. A new interest is embryology - learning how development occurs can be incredibly illuminating regarding our adult anatomy and how to heal it when things go wrong.

Looking forward to collaborating!-- Karinpower ( talk) 05:14, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
