This is my guide for the
2017 Arbitration Committee Elections. I'm mainly putting this here for my reference in the future, but feel free to use this.
Standards
I generally expect that candidates that I support be able to pass RfA. I also expect very good civility.
Support
KrakatoaKatie(
talk·contribs·count·logs) Amazing work behind the scenes. Placing number one here though this year there are a minimal number of good candidates. No qualms.
Worm That Turned(
talk·contribs·count·logs) Inactive while on holiday, but former admin, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversighter known throughout the community. Even formerly elected to ArbCom! Practically no qualms.
Opabinia regalis(
talk·contribs·count·logs) Yep. Posits an amazing opinion at ArbCom. One concern is perhaps slight issues with the use of language.
Callanecc(
talk·contribs·count·logs) Current arb. He is perhaps the arb that I know least about apart from being in that position, but from a quick check there are no qualms.
SMcCandlish(
talk·contribs·count·logs) Involved in disputes and non-admin but has amazing knowledge of policies/guidelines/procedures and is highly active. Not an admin.
Alex Shih(
talk·contribs·count·logs) Seen them around, have nice analysis, but lack of activity before July has me too concerned.
Oppose
The Rambling Man(
talk·contribs·count·logs) I know that he is an amazing content contributor. I know he's got so many FLs and GAs. I know that he would have probably passed in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, but it went downhill from there, with an ArbCom case resulting in a sanction, lack of civility, et al. Sorry, but I have to oppose because of that.
Sir Joseph(
talk·contribs·count·logs) Claims that editing in contentious areas sometimes has the result of being blocked. You don't see many ArbCommers get frequently blocked, do you? Also, he more strikes me as someone who would be sanctioned in a case than being one of the deciding arbs.
