I am a PhD student in African History at Yale University currently conducting dissertation research in South Africa on port culture, especially focusing on the lives of sailors, dockworkers, and "sugar girls." I also work at the University of Cape Town as a researcher on higher education issues, such as open access, scholarly communication and open educational resources.
