Jewell Russell Mann (June 13, 1903— March 16 1987) [1] was an American lawyer from Oklahoma who spent much of her legal career as an advocate for gender equality and women's rights. Mann successfully advocated to amend the Oklahoma Constitution in 1942 to grant women the right to hold state office. Another significant case challenged the Oklahoma Legislature's prohibition on women from serving on juries. She was inducted in the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame in 1984. [2]

Early life and education

Mann was born on June 13, 1903 in Aurora, Arkansas. [1] She graduated from University of Tulsa College of Law. [1]

Other activities

Mann was president of the Oklahoma Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs. [3]
