List of Pacific Northwest Tropical Cyclones Information

The Pacific Northwest is a region in which contains 4 or more states or provinces along the West Coast of North America. These include Oregon, Washington, British Colombia, Alaska, and occasionally parts of Idaho and California. The tropical cyclones that affect this region do so in the form of remnant moisture or Extratropical lows, as waters are too cold to support convection. Occasionally, when a tropical cyclone undergoes an extra-tropical transition, the system undergoes cyclogenesis, or in some cases, explosive bombogenesis. These can become what are known as Pacific Northwest windstorms, sometimes causing much damage, such as the Columbus Day Storm of 1962 , which was the result of a typhoon undergoing the Extratropical transition, causing rapid deepening, which then produced strong winds, causing much damage. However, most of these cyclones do not cause much in the way of damage.
