The William T. Pecora Award is an annual award sponsored by NASA and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Awarded annually since 1974, it recognizes individuals or groups that have contributed to understanding of the Earth using remote sensing. [1] The award is named after William T. Pecora, a pioneer of the Landsat program and director of the U.S. Geological Survey from 1965 to 1971.
