Ossining Boat and Canoe Club
The Ossining Boat and Canoe Club was founded in 1915 as an all-volunteer, self-run boating organization. Membership is made up Working members (sailors, powerboaters, and kayakers) and Associate members.
The club's location on the east bank of the Hudson River has always provided boaters with miles of open water and fishermen with ample fishing spots. The club was conceived so that members could have affordable access to the river. Unlike other clubs, OBCC keeps its rates reasonable by having all clubhouse maintenance and repairs completed by its membership.
The original clubhouse was erected by the members on the present site, just south of the Ossining RR Station on Westerly Road, in 1921. With the exception of some minor changes to the façade, the structure remains identical to its original frame.
Over the years, OBCC has recognized the importance of community involvement and has embraced several community-based projects. The club works closely with the US Safety Foundation of Boat US, hosts the Ossining Community Sailing Club and US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla #6-7, and hosts the annual Donald “Hot Pie” Zerilla Breakfast to assists the Zerilla Memorial Scholarship Fund, helping Ossining High School students with college tuition.
Throughout the boating season the club also hosts several open-house events: Family Fun Fishing Day, Rib-Off, Clam Bake, and Holiday Toy Drive.
