From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A career academic and frequent Wikipedia peruser, I'm new to editing but inspired by the notion that information is truly at our fingertips. The tragedy, however, is the quality of the information and the discernment required to navigate it competently. It is my hope that I can contribute, even if only in minute and completely esoteric ways, to the ease of understanding that information, particularly as it pertains to topics related to the sciences, medicine, and health.

I currently work as a staff scientist at a top research-based university in the United States. My focus is on neuroscience, chiefly behavioral neuroscience, stress, neuroendocrinology, and their relationships to psychiatric disorders, particularly involving the limbic system.

As a "scientist", I feel an obligation to help present scientific findings in a tangible way, but also by bridging the gap that exists between the scientific and lay communities through media, for instance, Wikipedia.

As stated, I am quite new to this - If I am making mistakes in my approach, please let me know... or just slap me upside the head.
