Mansour Rostgar Fasaei was born in 1939 in Fars province. He completed his elementary education in his hometown of Fasa. In 1958, he commenced his bachelor's degree in Persian language and literature at Shiraz University. Subsequently, in 1966, he pursued further studies in the same field at the University of Tehran. On March 16, 1971, under the guidance of Parviz Natel-Khanlari, he successfully defended his thesis, earning his doctoral degree from the same institution. Fasaei began his teaching career at Shiraz University and eventually retired from the university in 2006, holding the position of professor.
Fasaei's academic journey includes teaching experiences at prestigious universities worldwide, including Cambridge University (1975-1976), Harvard University (1989), University of Pennsylvania (1997-1998), University of Brasilia in Brazil (2002-2003), Moscow State University (2006), and the Department of Oriental Studies near the University of Arizona (2006-2010).
