Alex Ryan John (born 8 February 2001) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a midfielder for Southern League Premier Division South club Merthyr Town.
John joined the youth team of AFC Llwydcoed at the age of six, playing for them along with the Cambrian & Clydach Vale BGC Academy, before in 2015 he joined the academy of Swansea City. [1]
In June 2017, John signed scholarship terms with League Two side Yeovil Town. [2] As a second-year scholar John was included on the substitutes bench for the first time for Yeovil in April 2019. [3] At the end of the 2019–20 season, John and Nestor Shako were offered their first professional contracts. [4] Following the appointment of new manager Darren Sarll, John signed a two-year contract. [5] On 12 September 2019, John along with Shako joined Southern League Premier Division South side Gosport Borough on loan until January 2020. [6]
On 30 April 2019, John received his first international call-up to a Wales U19 three-day training camp. [7]
