The Gao Liangqiao street was built in 1292--Yuan Dynasty.The Emperor Kublai Khan built it for meetting the water need of the city.He ordered the officer Shoujing Guo to dredge the water ways and build a bridge.Durring Ming and Qing Dynasties,it became the channel between Beijing to Xishan Attractions. Sorghum River comes from the stoy about Zhe Gao.There was a river in the north side of the Xizhimen. It was said that the Yan Emperor and Bowen Liu all wanted to make Beijing become the capital.However,Beijing was a sea of river at that time.so,Bowen Liu ordered the Dragon King to move the water to another place for the peace of Beijing,otherwise,he would punish him.Ther was nothing the Dragon King can do unless obay what he had said .Days after,the Dragon King fleed away with his wife.Liang Gao was ordered to arrested the King by Bowen Liu.But during the period of the battle between Liang Gao and the Dragon King,Gao was drowned away .To commemorate the hero,people changed the name of the brige as Gao Liangqiao.
