Verniercass, or Cassie Vernier, is a PhD student at
Washington University in St. Louis in the Evolution, Ecology and Population Biology graduate program. She is conducting her doctoral research in the lab of Yehuda Ben-Shahar, where she is using the
honey bee and
fruit fly model systems to investigate mechanisms involved in the evolution of social behavior.
Cassie received her Bachelor's degree from the
University of Michigan, where she studied
Polistes wasps as a member of the Tibbetts lab.
Cassie is a TA for the
Behavioral Ecology course led by
Joan E. Strassmann. She hopes to lead students of this course to make significant improvements to the Wikipedia pages of many social wasp species.
