In your (seemingly) final edit, you made this effective change. I didn't add lowercase acceptance of the classes (a, b, c, fa, fl, Fa, Fl) because the class parameter is used directly for category naming and template calls. For this change to stand, you'd have to verify that actually rating an article "c" (instead of C) doesn't redlink anything. Est-ce logique? — EncMstr ( talk) 17:08, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed that you have undo some of the links that I put for hospitals links for the external links. I would like to know why this was a violation of the policy: Example: List of hospitals in the United States, I added a link to hospitalfinder.com which is similar to medlineplus and also the article "how to find the best hospitals above". If both are ok, why not this new one. It is related to the topic. Another example: List of hospitals in Utah, it previously contains a link: http://www.u-s-hospitals.com/states/ut.htm%7C which is a link to another external website. Again, why that was allowed but not the new link? I am happy to remove the links if you can provide me an explanation of the rule. The link that I provide is related to the topic. If you allow the "how to find best hospital link": http://www.dotgovwatch.com/?/archives/14-Find-the-Best-Hospitals-With-Government-Statistics.html which is a .com site and the http://www.u-s-hospitals.com/states/ut.htm%7C, why not this one? I also look at other pages of external links. As long as they are related to the topics, they are generally allowed in the external links section even they are .com site. I read the spam policy, it doesn't mention any difference on .com vs .org or .gov. So I am a bit confused. The site (ushospitalfinder.com) that I added doesn't require user to log in or register. It is just a free general informational website. So I am here to ask for some help and explanation, so that I won't make the same mistake if there is any. In the meantime, I put back my links. If you provide me a good explanation, I am happy to undo all my change. So it won't create more work for you. Thank you for you help and guidance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Millionstars ( talk • contribs) 13:37, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Howdy folks, its time for this week’s edition of
Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week. First off, great job the last two weeks with
Greg Oden & the
Hospital red link drive. We had close to ten new hospital articles and two DYKs (
) plus other improvements to the list itself. So thank you to those who helped out. This week, we have on a sad note
Kevin Duckworth, and the
Statesman Journal. Duckworth should have plenty of sources so hopefully in tribute we can get his article up to standards. With the SJ, hopefully we can get it above a stub so all three of the top three papers are no longer stubs, and maybe even a DYK and GA like we got from the Register-Guard? Once again,

Katr, Sorry if this is one of those "oughta be obvious" questions. I wanted to help out with Wiki Project Oregon's requested photos for the Eugene area. Could you please advise or direct me as far as resolution, file type and size WPO is looking for? Also, after I've taken one and made it the right resolution, size, and format, how would I actually submit it to the Project? Email? Upload? As always--Thanks! Thanks for helping me out with my recent counter point post. I understand why it had to be pulled the first time, and I am very pleased to see the way the references are laid out. I am still unclear on the syntax to get a proper reference. I wanted to add the Huffington Post article pointing out the specific campaign contribution of $2000 to GW Bush made by the former mayor.
I figured out that a reference link is specified by "[]". How do I get an anchor for a local link similar to how you have the references laid out? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joe bussell ( talk • contribs) 14:30, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm confused about why you undid my change to the link for Women Painters of Washington (WPA). The WPA web site is not a reference and does not provide source material for the article. Katr,
It looks like the edit war over the Goldschmidt article has gotten pretty nasty. I haven't been around much, so I have no idea what's going on (and I think I'd rather not know honestly). I'd help you out, but I've pretty much given up on Wikipedia since it's a playground for those who want to spread lies and push their own personal agendas. The people who are editing that article are destroying it. Honestly it might be better to revert back to a version last April or something and at least get the bias back out of it. Good luck. Why do you keep removing the parent category of Category:Law firms of the United States on Stoel Rives? I simply categorized it in the same manner/convention as all the other law firm articles. -- Eastlaw ( talk) 00:43, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for fixing Octet (Christensen) etc. Though it may sound strange, choreographers and dancers use the preposition "on" with the verb "made" rather than "for" (this is true for both modern dance and ballet.) — Robert Greer 17:25, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
All right, removing the parent categories on the other law firm articles is one thing, but Category:Oregon law doesn't belong in this category. The category is for law firms operating in Portland, not for statutes/regulations/cases in the state of Oregon (which is what the latter is for). I know this because I'm the one who created all those "Law firms based in {{{city}}}" categories. Quit netcopping. -- Eastlaw ( talk) 20:25, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Katr
I am an employee in the communications office at the Oregon National Primate Research Center. I keep an eye on our Wikipedia page as it has been the target of animal rights activists in the past who want to change the page so that it is only critical of the center and does not talk about our accomplishments.
I see that you have been editing the page and thank you for that. I think it is great to see information added so that the public learns more about us.
Because I am aware of the policy that organizations should not edit their own pages, I am writing you to get your advice.
There are a few things about the page in its current state that concern me and I would like your thoughts about how the system can work to ensure that the page accurate in its representation of the center
Here are my specific thoughts:
The page seems slanted right now so that animal rights issues as a whole heavily dominate the page. These incidents were part of our history and I certainly don't think they should be deleted, but we have existed for over 40 years and they are a small part of our history. It seems to me that in comparison the section about our research is incredibly short and not representative of the tremendous breakthroughs we have had. I would be happy to add to it but apparently cannot - thoughts on this?
One breakthrough, which is not even mentioned, is last year’s groundbreaking stem cell finding that was named by TIME magazine (along with a human study) as the #1 science breakthrough of the year. The finding was also reported in over 700 news outlets around the world. Here are a few links to illustrate http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=16298417 http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/15/science/15primate.html?_r=1&ref=science&oref=slogin http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/11/15/MNHITCGT6.DTL&type=printable http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/top10/article/0,30583,1686204_1686252_1690920,00.html
While this was a huge finding, we have also had many other very significant ones that are not mentioned at all on the page. It just seems odd to me that this section is so short when we have done so much
Another concerning issue about the page is that it fails to mention that in 2007 (just as was the case in the 2000 animal rights infiltration) we were cleared of wrongdoing by the USDA. Here are links to documentation (The USDA report, news articles) that prove this: http://speakingofresearch.com/2008/07/04/peta-out-with-the-new-in-with-the-old/ http://speakingofresearch.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/11-26-2007_onprc_inspection_rpt.pdf http://www.katu.com/news/local/12163211.html http://www.kgw.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D8TBFBT80.html
The animal care oversight section is also incredibly short. The amount of oversight that we have and our outstanding record (it’s very common for us to get a completely clean bill of health) are not explained here. This is not as big of an issue, but for all the regulation we operate under, this seems really, really short.
If you have a chance to give me advice on how our page can become more representative of what we are, I’d value your thoughts – thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Onprc ( talk • contribs) 00:16, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

"Such pages could contain further research that is accurate and on-topic; information that could not be added to the article for reasons such as copyright or amount of detail; or other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article for reasons unrelated to its accuracy." I think the Whole Wheat Radio wiki pages that I've been linking fit that definition admirably - perhaps better than the commercial pages (Myspace, Allmusic, etc.) that are frequently included in the External Links sections. Our non-commercial "good faith" mission statement
If you are in a position to determine if these links to a well-established, long-term, non-commercial, all volunteer supported Mediawiki collaborative site where a large database of additional information about these artists, albums and songs can be found is considered spam, please let me know. If the spam concern is because I was the principal founder of WWR, then it would be extremely helpful for me to know that so I can further encourage other WWR listeners to do the actual linking. I understand if you are personally unable to do that since it appears you have an active life outside of Wikipedia.
Once again, I sincerely appreciate your pointing out the potential problem - it's not entirely unexpected. I decided, as I significantly reduce my personal involvement with WWR (it is definitely no longer "my" site but a fully-volunteer supported wiki collaborative site I help facilitate), I would at least give it a shot with the independent artists found here. I have notified WWR listeners that I need their help in posting these links and I will cease doing the linking unless I am given some assure from the Wikipedia community that this good-faith cross-pollination of two non-commercial wikis is not going to be called out as potential spam again. I despise spam as much as...no...more...than anyone.

Once again,

click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Hasta la bye bye.

Katr,
It looks like the edit war over the Goldschmidt article has gotten pretty nasty. Good luck. where the information comes from is right off of the albany official webpage. http://www.cityofalbany.net/about/statistics.php
that is where i got the information and where i would like to make the citation from but I have yet to figure out how to do so. would you be willing to help teach me how to site that to the page.
