When using math in an article, there are two different types of markup that one can use. It is important to be consistent throughout an article and use the same type of markup. If a formula appears all on the same line, it would be better to use HTML than LaTeX, because L∞ looks better in line than does; however it's generally a bad idea to attempt to render in HTML.
Let's start off with the basics. You can make italics by putting in 2 of these(') before and after the word, in other words, I made the word italics italic by doing this ''italics''. You can also make things bold by using the same method,only this time use 3 's, in other words, I made the word bold bold by doing this '''bold'''. Finally, you can make bold italics by placing 5 's before and after the word or words, in other words, I made the bold italics bold and italic by doing this '''''bold italics'''''.
