Joseba Andoni Agirretxea Urresti (born August 6, 1966, Ondárroa, Vizcaya Province) is a Spanish politician, a member of the Basque Nationalist Party. He was a councillor in Ondárroa and is a deputy in the Congress of Deputies from the IX legislature to the current XIV legislature.

Career

At the age of 17, he joined EGI, the youth organization of the PNV, and two years later, he got a council position in the City Council and held it until 1990. He studied Basque Philology at the University of Deusto but directed his professional career in communication, where he worked for twelve years at ETB and Radio Euskadi. [1] [2]

Following the initiative of Joseba Egibar, he began as an adviser in the General Assembly of Gipuzkoa and was later appointed by the General Assembly of the PNV spokesperson for the party. He later worked as a Communications adviser at the General Secretariat for Foreign Action of the Basque Government. Member of the National Assembly of the PNV, he has been a deputy during the IX, X, XI and XII legislatures in the Congress of Deputies. [1] [2]  In the XI and XII legislatures, he was president of the Mixed Commission for Relations with the Ombudsman. [3]

During the XIII legislature, Agirretxea was a member of the Commission for the Statute of Deputies and spokesperson for the Defense, Culture and Sport, Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare, Science, Innovation and Universities, Equality and Agriculture, Fisheries and Food commissions, being also president of the latter.

In the current XIV legislature, he continues to be the president of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Commission as well as a spokesman in various other commissions. [4]
