Yu-Gi-Oh! the Abridged Series (Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged or YGOTAS) is a a voiceover spoof series of Kazuki Takahashi's Yu-Gi-Oh! first released July 16, 2006 by Martin Billany, known also as LittleKuriboh. [1] As of June 28, 2010, the Billany has produced 47 episodes, spanning two complete seasons, and one episode in the third. [1]
Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged parodies the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime using the video from the anime with voice-overs from Billany and other voice actors. [2] For example, in episode 47, "Beyond the Fourth Wall," released May 25, 2010, Billany plays his usual roles as Yugi, Yami Yugi, Téa, Tristan, Duke, Joey, and others; Chris Niosi as series antagonist, Noah; Lawrence Simpson as Nesbitt; Scott Frerichs as Johnson; Nick Landis as Lector; Curtis Arnott as Crump; and Blake Swift as Jaden Yuki. [2]
There a spin-off spoof of Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged, Cr@psule Monsters. Cr@psule Monsters had two episodes, one in September 2007 and the second in August 2008. [3]
The series features many recurring gags, such as Seto Kaiba's catchphrase, "Screw the rules, I have money," or the constant ridicule of 4Kids Entertainment's censorship of the original English dub. [4]
