Sergio Carrer (Feio). (Born November 20, 1959) is a Brazilian Singer, Music Conductor, Record Producer, Musical Arranger, Song Writer, Film Composer and Artist/Musician. During 2 decades in the entertainment industry, Sergio Carrer, Feio, has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, Grammy Award[1] nomination, Sharp Award nominations,[2] , Trofeu Imprensa Awards[1] nomination, He is best known as the Producer, Song Writer, Musician and Musical Arranger of Sandy and Junior`s albums since 1989, and as the producer composer and conductor of the song “Vamos Construir”,(Crianca Esperanca, Theme, Globo TV , Brazil). Produced, Directed and Composed (song and video) of 2 Paralympics Games themes (Sidney 2000 and Athens 2004), wrote more than 40 number ones Hits over his career. Produced many of most famous artists in Brazil and with Tony Brown, produced Reba Mc Entire with Brazilian Famous duet Chitaozinho e Xororo, (Brazilian Country Music, Sertanejo). Produced for all Major Labels, Universal Music, Sony Music, BMG, EMI, Warner Music, Abril Music, and more. Almost 2 decades as an Exclusive Writer/Composer on Universal Publishing. 1965, his first performance (Methodist University, S.Paulo, Brazil). That same year, he became an artist and multiple instrument player and singer, performing in Schools, Theaters and local Shows. In 1974 Sergio and his friends Roberto Gomes and Naka, formed SN&B Country, the first Country performers and introducers of the American Country Music style in Brazil. March 27, 1979 Formed The Ugly and Bad country music duet, with his friend and partner Celso Lourenco, six months later played in Branding Iron Night Club Bar in Zephyrhills, Florida, US. He learned Banjo, Mandolin and fiddle. Returned to Brazil and introduced high tech in his shows and become one of the most important entertainer name on Brazil`s Night Shows. Until today he is one of most highly rated producers and composers in the history of Brazil.

Early life

Sergio was born in Ipiranga, Sao Paulo, at Clinica Infantil do Ipiranga, today`s Hospital Dom Antonio de Alvarenga, from a traditional Italian family, the youngest son of Landri Carrer (Trio Guadalupe) famous artist on 50/60s and Lourdes Pereira Carrer. When he was 3 years old, his Italian Grand Father Luigi Carrer (Luis Carrer in Brazil), taught him read, write and his first notes in music. Sergio discovered his talent for music seeing and listening his father performances on TVs and Radios and in November 20, 1965, his mother gave him an acoustic guitar, six months later, in Methodist University of Sao Paulo, did his first performance, on Mother`s Day (May, 1966). Right after, wrote his first song. Between 1967 and 1971 performed on Professor Otilio de Oliveira Elementary School in Sao Bernardo do Campo, S. Paulo and many other Theaters. When he was 9, had classes of Classical Guitar with his uncle Mario Carrer, his father`s brother at Escola de Violao Mario Carrer and wrote his first classical part. Also at nine years old, sang (tenor) in the choir at Adventist seventh day church. When he was 17 was a semi-professional soccer player (Alianca Futebol Clube, now Esporte Clube Sao Bernardo). Studied Commerce and Publicity at Methodist University, However, he abandoned his studies when he received an offer to tour as a leader singer with the Ugly and Bad Country Music Duet. In 1979, in his first visit in United States, did a course of Skydiving on Zephyrhills Parachute Center, Skydive city, jumping at day and playing at night in a Night Club named Branding Iron in Zephyrhills, Fl. After that, went in New York, where studied music and arrangement, and performed on Central Park for an audience of 300 people. Upon his return to Brazil, Sergio was on the road for years and then he displayed a gift for arranging songs. In 1995, Rita Adams, his friend, indicates Doug Wayne (Producer / Composer) who helped him in the production of the album of Duo “Par ou Impar”, “Odd or Even”, and became great friends. This friendship lasts until the present day. In 2006 Sergio attended the Retreat, a Conference of Composers and Song Writers of the World in Nashville TN. Today, Sergio is considered one of the top 20 producers and composers in Brazil. Undoubtedly, one of the most demanding and meticulous in the Brazilian Music Industry.

Musical career

In 1966, his first appearance, playing and singing 2 Roberto Carlos`s songs on Mother`s Day, at Methodist University Theater. Same year, wrote his first song. He studied music composition and theory and Classical Guitar with Mario Carrer, his uncle, at Escola de Violao Mario Carrer in 1969 and three months later, wrote his first Classical Part (recovered and reedited by Mario Carrer). Sergio was 10, on his first classical concert. Made several auditions and shows were met Celso Lourenco, Mario`s student. In 1973, at High School (Escola Estadual do Terceiro Grau, Terceirao) met Roberto G. Silva and began to rehearse and play together. In 1974 add their friends Naka, and introduced American Country Music style in Brazil, which made several presentations at theaters and festivals but was in 1978, at Cacilda Becker Theater in Sao Bernardo do Campo, his first big Show. Sergio became music director in 1986 of the accompanying recordings of Chitaozinho e Xororo, after recorded and arranged the song “Pe Na Estrada”, (1987 Meu Disfarce, Album by Copacabana). in1987, at a Sao Paulo Night Club “Clyde`s” met Eleanor Saad, director of Rede Bandeirantes de Radio e Televisao, (Brazilian TV Broadcast), who invited him to join the program a number of the station, “Perdidos na Noite” hosted by Fausto Silva. His first big Hit song, happened on next Sandy and Junior album (1992 Sabado a Noite by Polygram Records) sold near half million copies, the song “Vamos Construir” was also the theme song of a big Charity Show for Children (Crianca Esperanca by Globo TV) seen by more than 100 million people and grossing millions of dollars in donations. His last production for Sandy and Junior, in 1999/2000, (Quatro Estacoes by Universal Music) Sergio already had many successes and had already sold nearly 15 million copies. After more than 18 years, his duo, Ugly and Bad ends and starts a new project. Focused in his career, formed a new duo “Par Ou Impar” (Even or Odd)in 1995 with his friend Alexandre Rangon. The preparation of it took two years and finally moved to Nashville TN for recording, with his American friend and Producer Doug Wayne. In the same period, Sergio worked as an arranger, musician, producer and composer for some of the most important artists of the era, including Yasmin, KLB, Guilherme e Santiago, and Pedro e Thiago. Work with Sandy and Junior

In 1989, was the first contact with Sandy and Junior. Sandy was six years old, and Junior was five. From this meeting came the design of phonographic works created by Xororo and Noely, (Parents). At the request of Xororo, basically the album would be done by Sergio, as a Musician Recording and Co-Producing who readily accepted the challenge. Another musician, arranger and conductor, Julio Teixeira, was called to participate with the Programing and arrange songs, and the rest would be recorded by Sergio, (Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Harmonica, Percussion, and Harmonies). The Studio was M & M Studios in Campinas SP, with the owner / engineer Andre Mais. The Album “Aniverssario do Tatu”, (Tatu`s Birthday) was recorded in 1990 and released in October by Polygram, at the time, Pantano was the president and Mayrton Bahia, Director of AR. The song “Maria Chiquinha” boosted sales and was the beginning of the Duo success and sold over 300,000 copies, and Sergio receiving his first gold record.

Italian Culture
