Seun Ogunseitan
O'seun Ogunseitan is the first digital media archivist in Nigeria to archive and put newspaper archives on Bluray Discs and USB Flash drives. He was also the publisher of Nigeria’s first-ever interactive e-Learning Tutorial and Examination Practice Software which he called Fashola.exe.
O'seun Ogunseitan was born Oluwaseun Oladapo Ogunseitan in Nigeria, on the 31st of March 1960. He attended Alafia Nursery and Primary School, the first private nursery school in Nigeria, from 1964-1966. For his Secondary School education, he attended Birch Freeman High Surulere from 1972-77 [1]. There he obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. He later proceeded with his A-levels at the Polytechnic Ibadan(77-78) .
He got a B.Sc in Zoology from the University of Ibadan (79-84). In 1986, He proceeded on a Postgraduate Diploma Course in
Mass Communication at the The University of Lagos. In 1987, he won the first-ever Nigerian Journalist of the Year Award sponsored by UAC/Unilever .The Journalism Award First Prize was a scholarship to study an Advanced Journalism at Thompson Advanced Journalism Foundation Institute then in London.
O'seun Ogunseitan started as an Agriculture and Science journalist and later an environment-issues writer at The Guardian Nigeria in Lagos, Nigeria in 1984. He became The Guardian Newspaper's first Assistant Science Editor in 1987 [2]
He broke the West African Toxic Waste Dumping Stories in 1987 which led to the discovery of Koko Toxic Waste Dump.
He was the field coordinator of Nigeria's first ever State of the Environment Project in 1989 sponsored by CUSO . He was the project initiator and founding editor of Nigeria's first ever Science, Technology and Environment Magazine,
The African Science Monitor which took off as a subsidiary of the African Concord Magazines in May 1990. He was a contributor to the London-based New Internationalist (Wednesday is an Odd day in Lagos) and also of the Panos Institute. He is a co-author of Denial and AIDS in the Worlds PANOS 1988 [1]. He is a notable voice on why Africa lags behind in the world of Science" Elsevier (The Curiosity of Science) [2]
He is the Chief Technical Officer of First Digital Press Ltd. in Nigeria.
