During a Major League Baseball game on July 30th, 2019 between the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, a brawl between both teams broke out after Reds pitcher Amir Garrett retaliated against Pirates pitcher Keone Kela for comments made from the dugout, as well as for Kela attempting to beanball Reds second baseman Derek Dietrich. The result was a bench-clearing-brawl instigated by Garrett charging the Pirates dugout. As a result, Garrett, Reds manager David Bell, Reds pitcher Jared Hughes and former Reds outfielder Yasiel Puig were suspended from the Reds, as well as Pirates manager Clint Hurdle, Kela, Pirates pitcher Kyle Crick and Pirates outfielder Jose Osuna. Puig's suspension was served with the Cleveland Indians, as he was traded to the team during the game before the brawl.
