The 2017 FIFA Club World Cup was the 20th edition of the biannual competition. The tournament was hosted by the United Arab Emirates from 10 June–10 July 2017.

Teams

Qualification

Main article: 2017 FIFA Club World Cup qualification

All FIFA-affiliated clubs were eligible to enter the competition. Teams qualified through their continental Champions League. Of the 32 teams, 12 from UEFA, 6 from CONMEBOL, 4 from CONCACAF, 4 from AFC, 4 from CAF, 1 from OFC and the 1 host.

Draw

For the draw, the teams were allocated to four pots based on geographic. Pot 1 contained the hosts UAE Champions (who were automatically assigned to Position A1) and the best seven teams, Pot 2 contained the next best eight teams, and so on for Pots 3 and 4. Teams from the same confederation/country were not drawn against each other for the group stage, except for UEFA where each group contained up to two teams.
