Ric Soulen was hired as the first online columnist for denverpost.comin late 1999. Between 2000 - 2008 he wrote more than 1000 entries to his Colorado Journal for the newspaper. The column focused on his life in an off-grid house in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and alternative energy issues. Photography for the Journal was provided by his wife Julie Magers Soulen. Born in Ohio Ric graduated from the Ohio State University with a BS in Communications. He moved to Colorado in 1984 and is currently employed as Communications Specialist for Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association, a non-profit electric cooperative.
