Laurent Calkoen (born 17 June 1988 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a Dutch racing driver who competed in the German ADAC VW Polo Cup Championship.
Racing Career 1998 - 2005: Early years and local success Calkoen began racing karts at the age of 9 in the Junior Grand Prix championship. He achived early success, winning the 2000 South African Karting Championship in the Junior Grand Prix category. In 2001, Calkoen progressed to international karting, racing in the JICA European Championship, racing for the PDB Kart Racing team.
2005: Single seater debut Calkoen made his single seater debut in 2005, racing in the South African Formula Vee national and regional championship. Laurent would finish the national season in 10th place, and the regional champioship in 4th place.
2006 - 2007: Local and international touring car debut In 2006, Calkoen would switch to touring car racing, racing in the South African VW Polo-Cup Championship (2006), followed by making the move to the German ADAC VW Polo-Cup season in 2007.
2007: Protea Colors Calkoen was awarded National Colors by Motorsport South Africa for success in international Karting and Saloon car racing.
