The Tropical Research and Conservation Centre, (TRACC) is based in Sabah, East Malaysia with bases in Kudat and on Pom Pom Island, offshore from Semporna. The Tropical Research and Conservation Centre (TRACC) has two main programmes - (1) education about the underwater world through the marine science courses and (2) conservation of the ocean. TRACC is run by marine conservationists for volunteers and visitors to learn and participate in marine science and conservation. TRACC staff and volunteers work on coral reefs to stop blast fishing, and they replant corals to give homes for the fish. They also protect turtles from poaching of eggs and disturbance from humans during nesting. Tracc is actively advocating for shark and rays conservation within Sabah and globally through the Global Shark Survey.
