About me

I'm a running start college student who lives in the Pacific Northwest. I am interested in video games, anime, manga, programming, and keyboards. I can program in an object-oriented programming language known as java [1], however I still need to practice solving problems by programming. I love strategy video games, and one of my favorites is Total War Shogun 2, a strategy game developed by Creative Assembly. I love the single-player campaign, as it has a blend of turn-based and real-time strategy gameplay and the battles look cool. Some other things about me are that I'm a Filipino-American, like pizza, play tons of Osu!, and have built a 60% hot swap mechanical keyboard in the past. Did you know that potatoes are vegetables [2]?

My Wikipedia interests

If I were to work on the encyclopedia for the long term, I would probably edit articles related to my hobbies. I think I would primarily edit articles related to custom keyboards and the type of switches they use and the methods that people use to change the sound profile and feel of the keyboard.

Article evaluation

One of the things I've been interested in is computer keyboards. I've been interested in because I use one on a daily basis. I know some information about keyboards and I want to see how well keyboards are explained on Wikipedia. I ended up visiting the keyboard page on Wikipedia and realized that it had a ton of information, so I ended up clicking on an article on the keyboard page about scancodes. I visited the scancodes page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its lack of citations, inclusion of dead links , and the age of its citations.

Citations

I noticed that the article stated many facts about scan codes and their relationships to keyboards, however there are not many. The article lists all of the links at the bottom of the page, with 5 citations in total. However the article only provides one citation for the "Variants" paragraph. It would be great for the article to include citations here, as there are relevant facts about past and new keyboards in regards to scan codes. Three of the total citations are within the "Scancode sets" paragraph. I don't believe that this paragraph needs much change, as it provides up to date citations for a majority of the facts listed.

The article does well in not including dead links. In fact there is only one within the article, that being in the "Variants" paragraph. The dead link is a dead Wikipedia article, "Typematics", the "Typematics" article linked seems to have been deleted, but would have helped to explain what "Typematics" meant in regards to the article itself.

Age

Most of the citations within the "Scancodes" article are 4 - 16 years old. The most up to date citation was updated this year. The "Scancodes" article has been updated recently on August 28 2022. I believe that there should be more up to date citations within this article because a majority of them are not current.

Conclusion

Overall, I think this page is okay. Most of the facts are cited with a citation, however the citations could be more current and there are very few of them. There is only one dead link within the page, showing that a majority of the information in the page is accessible. And the page has recently been updated, showing that it's up to date.
