Hospitality Careers Online (Hcareers) is the world’s largest niche job search engine catering to the hospitality industry. A niche job board allows jobseekers and employers to find relevant employment and recruitment solutions for their industry.

Company History

Hcareers.com was launched on December 11, 1998 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by David Curry and long-time business associate, Eden Slegr. Prior to the founding of Hcareers, David Curry was Managing Partner of hospitality search firm - Global Hospitality.

Mr. Slegr has been in the hospitality recruiting and consulting business since 1987 and is principal and founder of Global Hospitality, Inc., Los Angeles. Prior to his recruiting career, Mr. Slegr was partner and General Manager of the Sportsmen's Lodge Restaurant in Los Angeles, Executive Director of Student Management Corporation at Cornell University, and worked with Hyatt Hotels and Swissôtels in Europe. Mr. Slegr's background, includes management positions within the hospitality industry in food and beverage, finance, and as General Manager. Mr. Slegr currently continues in a consulting capacity with Hcareers and serves on the Hcareers Board of Directors.

By November 2000, Hcareers had launched two additional sites, hcareers.co.uk (UK & Ireland) and hcareers.ca(Canada), with dedicated personnel serving both areas.

In 2001, Hcareers made the move across Canada to new headquarters in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

May 2, 2002 The National Restaurant Association joins Hcareers as a Strategic Partner.

In April 2007, Hcareers headquarters moved to it's current offices in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

OnTargetJobs is the parent company of Hcareers as well as Applied Recruitment Technologies (HealthEcareers.com), CareerBank, Biospace and Medhunters. These sites provide online career services to the accounting, biotech, finance, healthcare, hospitality, insurance, pharmaceutical, and restaurant markets.

OnTargetJobs invests in leading niche internet job sites, serving a defined vertical industry or job function. OnTargetJobs’ most recent acquisitions have been JobLoft.com and RegionalHelpWanted.com. Both of these job boards are powerhouses in their niche and service hourly positions and local markets respectively.

Resumes can be uploaded to apply for all job postings of interest. These resumes are on file and can be searched by employers that are looking for candidates with a specific skill set.

Internship positions are available at HcareersCampus.com which is a partner site with the Council on Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE). Employers are able to post their available internships and the top hospitality and foodservice schools are directing their students to these opportunities. Hcareers is part of the curriculum in these schools, and those with American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) affiliation which teaches students how to find jobs once their education is complete.
