Somchit Kethphukeaw (สมจิตร เกตุภูเขียว) [1] (February 14, 1970 – April 16, 2016), known professionally as Dang Jittakorn (แดง จิตกร) was a Thai pop singer, songwriter and music producer. He was well known and successful for his Luk Thung songs during the 2000s - 2010s. He was nicknamed "Turbo Boy" because of his character and song. that quickly gained popularity until it became known to many listeners.

Life and career

Dang was born in Khon Kaen, Thailand. At an early age, he lives with his grandmother, because his parents had to separate. He was interested in music from a young age. At age 18, he participated in the amateur band as a band's stuff. But after the main singer was sick, he was given the opportunity to become a band singer.

In 1994, Dang debuted with his first album but unsuccessful. For the next years, he moved to KCS Group and released his 2nd album. In 1999, Dang was successful for his 6th Album under C.M.C Entertainment with "Nam Ta Pha Lhao." (น้ำตาผ่าเหล้า) But this album is only released for one year, he then resigned from the C.M.C due to contract and copyright issues. In 2000, He released the 7th album with a title-song "Pha Lhao Pha Ruk" (ผ่าเหล้าผ่ารัก) under the Topline Music label. Later, His 8th album has achieved great success with a famous song "Hua Jai Kued Hod." (หัวใจคึดฮอด) [2]

In July 2002, Dang released 11th album, Bork Ai Dai Bor, with famous single "Mon Ruk Tor Jor Wor." (มนต์รัก ตจว.) His single was a ballad song that very popular, especially among urban people. For the next years, he won Best Male Artist at the Malai Thong Awards. [3] On December 2003, he released his 12th album, Kor Pen Arlai Ruk, which is also very popular. and in 2004 he made his debut as the lead actor in a film produced by Topline Music. It was released as a VCD in 2005.

In March 2007, Dang released 15th album, Hua Jai Sah Mae Huk, with title-song, "Sukkawar Nah Nhao." (สักวาหน้าหนาว) Which is a song that is popular and included in the music charts of many radio stations. However, this album was renamed after the song became popular with the people.

On September 15, 2010, Dang released an album, Happy Missing Day, with a couple of promotion songs,which has released the first music video, "Bork Kub Kao Wa...Kee Mao Tho Ma," (บอกกับเขาว่า... ขี้เมาโทรมา) via TV programs and online. After four years of hiatus from his 2010 album, he returned to reveal a couple of songs from the new album, "Sao 3G" (สาว 3G) and "Sao Sar Luem Sorrapun." (สาวส่าลิมสรภัญญ์) The latest album, Sao Sar Luem Sorrapun, was released on May 20, and published a music video via YouTube on July 14, 2014. [4] [5]

Death

In September 2015, Dang interviewed via news agency that he was diagnosed with throat cancer in May. He was putting his career on hold in order for immediately underwent treatment and have healed. [6]

In April 2016, he discovered that his cancer had spread to Stage 5. He began undergoing treatment at Buriram Hospital on April 14. During the recovery period Many artists and fans came to visit and encourage him. On April 30, Dang died suddenly from nasopharynx cancer in his home. [7]

Tribute

after his death A compilation album was released in CD and MP3 format on May 23 and 24, 2016 under the title "Open The Legend" and "With Love and Engagement."

In 2018, a song from his last album was mentioned again from a viral video clip in TikTok. Later in 2019, the song from the third album became a trend again in 23 years since his album was released in 1996 after with many Mor Lam bands bring his songs to cover
