Pete Welsch
I'm a systems developer at
Media Matters for America, a progressive non-profit in Washington, DC. In my spare time I
DJ, spinning eclectic
downtempo and dance music.
I earned dual Master's degrees in
Information Science and
Library Science from
Indiana University - Bloomington. While there I worked with
BROG (Blog Research on Genre), a research group studying the structure of
blog and
LiveJournal networks. My own research dealt with the ecology of political blog networks. As an undergrad at
St. Mary's College of Maryland I focused on the
cultural history of the
Weimar Republic, particularly media created by German veterans of the
First World War and the cultural / aesthetic underpinnings of
National Socialism.
