Figurative Language is found all throughout kingdom hearts. Each game has one or more particular theme(s) attached to it. There are also a couple symbols found throughout the game.

A theme that is shown throughout the original Kingdom Hearts is that In the darkest of darkness, there is light. It is often hinted throughout the video game, but towards the end, Ansem tries to tell Sora that darkness is the hearts true essence and that the heart is weak and darkness grows within it. Sora then says that Ansem is wrong. Sora tells Ansem that in his travels he has learned that the heart may be weak, and sometimes, it may even give in. But, there is a light within that never goes out; this suggests that in the heart, there will always be a light within the heart to combat the darkness within the heart as shown in the following video from the game. ^[1]

In Chain of Memories, Sora has to go up floors in castle oblivion. each floor he forgets a part of his memory and recovers something he forgot. One such theme that is then shown throughout the game is memories, even forgot ones, are still there. Sora says that "Memories — even important ones — don't come back to us whenever we want them to. But that doesn't mean the memories are gone" ^[2] suggesting still that memories are always present, even if they aren't being thought of. One of the characters named Namine also attests to the name chain of memories by saying "Not remembering something doesn't really mean that it's gone. When you remember one thing, that leads to remember another and then another and then another. Our memories are connected. Many pieces are linked together like they're in a chain — that makes up each one of us." ^[3]

358/2 days is focused on the character Roxas and how he grows with his two friends Xion and Axel. It can then be said that one such theme is friendship. How Roxas relies on Axel and Xion and how the two need Roxas as shown through Roxas's diary ^[4]
