Alessandra Cannito (Born July 20, 1991) is a Canadian Vocalist and Actress. She has had several major roles including appearances on Degrassi: The Next Generation, the Toronto feature film Saturday and Disney's Jump!.

Early Life

Cannito was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario. She attended Mayfield Secondary School for the Arts, where she began to experiment with different genres. Her performance career started in the Brampton Theater School. She currently attends Ryerson's Radio and Television Arts program in Toronto, Ontario. She was accepted at Boston’s Berklee College of Music with the World Tour Scholarship. She has been preparing for the school with Marc Jordan’s co-writer, Christopher Bilton.

Career

Cannito's career in theater started early when she was 9 years old. Her many theatre credits include; Dorothy in The WIZ, Gabriella in High School Musical, and The Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts’ RYC, where she was the proud recipient of their first “Performer of the Year Award.” Cannito has also appeared in many films and TV series. Her credits include Disney’s Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure starring Ashely Tisdale set to release Spring 2011, the Toronto-made feature film Saturday, Disney’s Jump! and Degrassi: The Next Generation [1]. She also has several voice credits in national Canadian commercials.

Charity

Cannito is also very involved in charity events including the Easter Seals Foundation, Breast Cancer Foundation, Future Possibilities, the Wings of Hope Foundation, Voices 2009 benefitting MusiCounts, and Carlos Diaz’s Fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. In June 2011, she will be organising a concert in order to raise money for CAMH in loving memory of a fellow musician and close friend who passed away in November 2010.
