Paul McLaughlin (born 29 December 1969) is CEO of Scotland Food & Drink, [1] a leadership organisation representing the food and drink sector in Scotland.
He lives in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire, with his wife, and daughter [1]
McLaughlin grew up in Glasgow where he attended The University of Glasgow [2]. He graduated in Engineering in 1991 and moved to Slough to join the Mars Confectionery graduate training programme [1]. He is the son of Joseph and Catherine McLaughlin and is the eldest of their 4 children.
Following completion of the Mars Confectionery graduate training scheme, he joined Coca-Cola in 2005, as Operations Controller at the Durham Plant [3], responsible for operations, engineering and warehouse functions.
He held various positions in Quality and Innovations departments [3], before becoming the Commercialisation Director for North-West Europe [4]
He was appointed as CEO of Scotland Food & Drink in October 2007, [2]
He is a member of the Scottish Government's Cross Party Group on Food [5] and the Food & Drink Skills Academy Board [6]
In December 2009, McLaughlin launched the first joined up strategy for the entire food and drink sector in Scotland, including agriculture, fishing and aquaculture [7]
