Nelson Biko Jackson (Born August 29, 1988) better known by his stage name Nely Jax, is a American born rapper, song writer, and record producer from Arlington, Tx. In 2010, he gained local recognition for the the co-production/writing for several records that reached radio. His debut EP Hot Biscuits was released March 1, 2015. In an city over saturated with upstart MCs all vying for the coveted status of “next big thing”, the story of 26-year old Texas native Nely Jax (born Nelson Jackson) is a refreshing exception to the quick route for fame and success.


Early Life

Nely Jax was raised on the north side of Arlington, Texas. His father served in the United States Navy, and worked as a local grocery store manager. His mother worked as a house keeper for several years, often walking up to 10 miles daily to get to work. At the age of 9, Jax relocated to Grand Prairie, Texas , where he was raised by his mother and older brother named Nathan Jackson. His father left the family when Jax was still young. He attended James Bowie High School (Graduated 2006), and Tarrant Country College before he dropped out his sophomore year to pursue music.

Early Career And Influnces

Jax started rapping at the age of 13, after receiving guidance from his brother on the basics of rhyming and word play. Inspired mostly by rappers Big L, Eminem, and Nas, Jax developed a love for telling stories in his lyrics. By age 14, Jax had notebooks filled with rhymes. He bought a head set microphone and began recording and posting his songs on several internet forums and social networking sites including MySpace.com. By age 17, he and childhood friend Erecq started a hip hop/electronica group called "Tv GanG" in 2006. Jax and Erecq's song "Get Up On Some" became a local hit at several colleges and high schools. In a 2012 interview with "The Dallas Observer", Jax listed his musical influences to be Tupac, Kanye West, Dilated Peoples, Big L, Cam'Ron, Mase, 50 Cent, Dr.Dre, Joe Budden, Eminem, Royce Da 5'9, Incubus, Nirvana, Blink 182, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Quincy Jones.

Radio Recognition and Live Shows

Jax's word play and mediphorical writting style caught the eye of several music managers and producers in Dallas in 2008. Around the time when the music industry was focused on Dallas, based off the success some of the country's biggest club records being birthed there, Jax was recruited to write verses and chorus' from several signed artitst. He performed over 500 live shows between 2008 and 2010, mainly as a "hype man" or back up artist for several local artist. In 2010 his record "Geeking" was the first record from Jax to get radio play. The song was well received but wasn't followed by significant recognition.

Hot Biscuits

In 2014, things musically slowed down tremendusly for Jax. A deep depression ensued fueled by heavy alcohol usage created a loss in desire to continue music. After watching his childhood friend Erecq garner success as a Videographer and Director, Jax was inspired to pick up where he left off. After meeting friend and now Manager Chandler Wheeler, he and Jax decided to create a project to resurrect his career.

"Hot Biscuits" is a 6 track EP produced and written by Nely Jax. The first single "Gang Signs" was released Febuary 2, 2015 to several media outlets online. The record has been played consistently in over 15 night clubs in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.
