The term Ecoartist developed out of artist's ideas and concerns about our environment. There are three different types of ecoartists, but their sensitivity to creating art while drawing attention to environmental issues are the same.

1. An Ecoartist uses demonstration or creative visuals to bring awareness to environmental issues.

2. An Ecoartist uses reclaimed and recycled materials as their media; creating as little damage to the environment as possible.

3. An Ecoartist uses only natural materials as their media.
