CEO, Image Nation As CEO of Image Nation, Michael Garin oversees the company’s international film partnerships along with its slate of local film productions as well as its television and strategic communications activities. Garin was appointed in February, 2011. A highly-respected media industry executive for more than forty years, Garin has served as a member of the Executive Committee of Image Nation’s parent company, Abu Dhabi Media Company, for four years.

Previously, Garin was CEO of Central European Media Enterprises (NASDAQ: CETV). During his tenure at the company, CME's enterprise value increased from $160 million to nearly $5 billion making it one of the fastest growing media companies in the world.

Garin began his media career at Time Inc. where he worked for TIME, FORTUNE and Time-Life Television from 1968 to 1978. He left Time Inc. to help co-found Telepictures which merged with Lorimar in 1984. Lorimar-Telepictures became the leading independent television company in the U.S. and in 1989 was acquired by Warner Communications. Lorimar-Telepictures and its team form the nucleus of Warner Bros. Television today.

Following the completion of the acquisition, Garin joined Furman Selz to help build one of the leading media and communications investment banking practices in the US. Furman Selz was acquired by ING and from 1996 through 1999, Garin served as the Global Head to Media & Telecommunications Investment banking for ING. He left ING to become COO of DigitalConvergence, an Internet technology company.

Garin has served on the Boards of many leading media companies including AMC Theatres, American Media, Canal+ Nordic, Thames Television International, Cablecom, Showtime and MortgageIT.
