Castrum software consumes documents and processes into a single, managed environment for secure sharing and collaboration. It is the core product of Castrum Limited, a privately held UK business.

Company

Castrum was founded in 2005 as Diraq Systems Limited. The original product offering focused on delivery of a hosted, thin-client document management software solution. This achieved initial success in the financial and banking sector due to its blend of strong security features, employing both AES encryption and SHA fingerprinting, along with a simple browser-based user interface.

In early 2011 Diraq Systems was acquired by an experienced team led by tech entrepreneur and VIP founder Mark Brooks. Rebranding to Castrum followed shortly thereafter, together with a new headquarters in Poole, UK. The word Castrum was used by the ancient Romans to mean areas of land reserved for use as military defensive positions. It was chosen for the new company to reflect a focus on security.

Castrum customers include Hallmark Cards, London Borough of Barnet, CEGA Air Ambulance, Bank Mizrahi-Tfahot, State Bank of India and Guy's Hospital.
