David Ross Komito is a professor, lecturer and author on the subjects of Mādhyamaka Buddhist meditation and the psychology of religion. Dr. Komito's interviews of the Dalai Lama for the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology (1983 and1984) are early examples of the rich dialog between Buddhists and western scientists exemplified by the Mind and Life Conferences.

Dr. Komito received his B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, M.S. in Counseling and Ph.D. in Tibetan from Indiana University. His main research has been on Nagarjuna and the applications of his philosophy to the practice of meditation. A former dean of John F. Kennedy’s Graduate School of Consciousness Studies, he currently teaches at Eastern Oregon University and frequently lectures at San Francisco Zen Center and its affiliates.
