Research Interests

My research interests include the formation of terrestrial carbonates, especially the geochemistry and biochemistry leading to precipitation, and the influence of both macrobiological and microbial communities on morphology. My research focuses on unusual forms of tufa and how extreme industrial environments can influence morphology.

I also have interests in speleothem formation, industrial history and geoconservation.

Qualifications

PhD Geobiology [Tufas and Travertines] (Cardiff University, 2013)

MESci Environmental Geoscience (Cardiff University, 2008)

Professional Memberships

International Association of Sedimentologists

British Bryological Society

British Cave Research Association
