Adolf and the Saboteurs is a alternative rock/folk/garage band from Vācu Kalni, Latvia. It is made up of Toms Dumpis, and Oskars Ārājs. They are not exactly famous, probably have a fan base of about two and a half people, and are working on their self-titled début album.

History

On an early Summer afternoon, July, 2011, as Oskars was visiting Toms, they started playing around with some ideas and spare instruments that resided at Toms' home, consisting of a keyboard, ukulele, improvised drums and some music software he had on his computer. That was the faithful day when they decided, against their better judgement, that they should form a band. After agreeing on this, they sat, pondering for a name, and after a few minutes just gave up. Day went on as usual, when Oskars read out a Latvian joke, and from that, Toms adapted the original name of 'Sex on a Cliff'. Content with the place holder name, they went about just jamming tunes and enjoying the summer.

In early February, 2012, as Toms was studying abroad in Cambridge, England, while holding up a conversation with Oskars through Twitter, they came up with a name that they though would only be a place holder, but it later turned out to be their permanent name, 'Adolf and the Saboteurs'. This name came from Oskars' name idea of 'Adolf and the Sausages', and Toms' inspiration from the Australian name of The Raconteurs, The Saboteurs.

Musical style

Their style is highly experimental, as neither of them can actually properly play their respective instruments, and are learning by doing covers of bands they take inspiration from. Their aim is to achieve the perfect experimental alternative garage- rock/ folk sound, which does not seem likely.
