KIKO Products Inc. is a Canadian company that sells specialized tools and equipment for the sporting goods industry. KIKO Products Inc. is a new franchise whose main operation is in St. Catharines, Ontario with plans to expand in the future. [1]
History
KIKO Products was formed in July 2006 by Charlie Kingston with the company’s first product: the Wrist Rite. Six months later, KIKO Products launched their new product, the Wrist Rite from its home offices. In March 2007 KIKO Products moved from that location to their new offices in the St. Catharines downtown core. [2] On their website, KIKO says their team “is a dedicated team of individuals working toward the production and marketing of each product created by the company. The team spirit is one which believes in the products KIKO produces and the forward advancement of sports related products.” [3] So far, KIKO has produced two products under subsidiary companies. Both products are sold mainly online, world wide. KIKO has multiple other products in the works, all aimed to improve leisure activity and promote interaction. KIKO Products Inc. is an all Can-Am company, creating product made in Canada with some parts coming from the United States of America.
Subsidiary Companies
KIKO Products Inc. has two main subsidiary companies dealing with their own separate product lines that deal exclusively in their own niche market place. KIKO Products Inc. plans to expand in the future by adding an array of sporting products. [4]
KIKO Golf and the Wrist Rite
KIKO Golf was formed under KIKO Products in 2007 with the creation of the Wrist Rite Golf tool. The golf tool is said to provide the solution for the number one problem golfers face - bending the lead wrist at impact. [5] The creation of the Wrist Rite came about when Kingston was told by his doctor that he had to be more active. Kingston chose golf as his new activity but was soon frustrated with his slices and inaccurate shots. [6] He then began delving into books written by professional golfers to solve his situation: Tiger Woods says in his book ‘How I Play Golf’ that golfers suffer from one of two things, slices and hooks caused by cupping or bowing of the lead wrist. [7] Golf Pro Bernhard Langer tells Golf Pro David Leadbetter, that he regards his lead hand as the ‘stirring wheel’ that controls the position of the clubface. [8] Jack Maurice says in an online article “to avoid slicing, it is important for you to keep your wrists flat. Bad golfers will usually bend or cup their left wrist at the peak of their backswing which leads to a turned club face going clockwise.” [9] Kingston used his experience as a biomechanical engineer and soon, the Wrist Rite was born. The Wrist Rite boasts the ability to be completely versatile: it can fit any size wrist as well as on either hand. [10] The Wrist Rite is a completely Canadian made product; all parts are manufactured in Canada, packaged in Canada and distributed through Canada. [11]
KIKO Fishing and the Reel Keel
KIKO Fishing was formed under KIKO Products in 2009 with the creation of the Reel Keel Fishing Lure. If certain lures are retrieved too quickly, they will spin in a wide arc that would be too much for a swivel to handle and thus, spin the line. [12] The Reel Keel however, boasts the unique feature of the keel and just like a sail boat; it will not flip over. [13] The Reel Keel is unique in design and will soon expand its product line to include many different sizes, and colors. The introductory series is the 400 Pro series used mainly for bass, pike, muskie, walleye and trout. [14]
