Oteng Tiro Sandra Kolobetso is a dedicated individual known for her active involvement in volunteer work, particularly within the realm of Wikipedia. Born with a passion for contributing to knowledge sharing and community building, Oteng has made significant strides in her journey as a volunteer.
I was born in Ghanzi a district found in the western part of Botswana. My native langauge is Sekgalagadi but i can also speak setswana and English. Growing up i developed keen interest in technology and information dissemination. My educational journey led me to pursue a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Business Information Technology. During my academic years, i demonstrated a strong commitment to my studies and an eagerness to explore opportunities beyond the classroom.
In 2020, i embarked on a journey as a Wikipedia volunteer, joining as a co-organizer for the Wiki Loves Africa photo contest. This marked the beginning of my impactful contributions to the Wikimedia community. My role involves organizing competitions and events aimed at enriching Wikipedia content, particularly focusing on my country Botswana.
My dedication to the Wikimedia movement remains steadfast as i continue volunteering as the organizer for different projects and challenges in Botswana from 2020 to date. i have organised the Wiki loves Africa Photographic contest from 2020 to 2024, Organised the Wiki Loves Women/Shesaid Campaign from 2021 to 2023, organised the Art and Feminism events from 2022 to 2024 and lastly organised the Africa Environment event in 2023. My enthusiasm and hard work played a pivotal role in the success of these events, furthering the mission of increasing content and contributions related to my country on Wikipedia.
