[1] [2] [7] RxWiki provides up-to-date information and news concerning prescription, over-the-counter, and natural medications. [1] [2] [4] [6] RxWiki also provides information and videos concerning symptoms of illnesses and medical conditions. [6] RxWiki can be accessed online, by mobile application, and on social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest. [8] [2] [3] [4] [7] [9]
In August 2007, Donald Hackett CEO and Lou Scalpati launched RxWiki in association with NCPA (National Community Pharmacists Association) and APhA ( American Public Health Association). [6] [8] [10] In 2009, Hackett and Scalpati formed a separate entity, RxWiki, as a public medical encyclopedia and began preparations to launch a website and mobile app. [7] [6] In February 2013 RxWiki launched the beta version of RxWiki and in March they launched the medical encyclopedia on social-networking site, Pinterest.
