Hi, my name is Giovanni Luca Ciampaglia. I am an assistant professor at the University of Maryland. Previously, I was an assistant professor at the University of South Florida, and prior to that I was a research scientist at the Indiana University Network Science Institute. My research interests are about Computational Social Science, Network Science, social computing, wikis, and Wikipedia in particular. I hold a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Lugano, Switzerland. My nationality is Italian and originally I am from Rome, the eternal city.
For more info and a list of academic publications, please visit my personal homepage.
From March to September 2012 I was a research analyst contractor at the Technology department of the Wikimedia Foundation, working on Editor Engagement issues. In particular, I analyzed data from MoodBar, an extension that lets new, registered user report quick feedback about their editing experience. See here for the main research page on the project.
I took part in the first edition of the Wikimedia Summer of Research. These are the research sprint I have worked on during the WSoR 2011
I award you the Wikidoop Barnstar for your tireless work on getting Hadoop and the Wikimedia XML files to live peacefully together. Drdee ( talk) 13:47, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
