I wasn't using a
completely unified global account (
[1][2]) for a long time because I didn't unify it back when that became an option, and later I didn't unify it because of numerous conflicting accounts on various wiki instances.
What forced my hand was the realization that apparently for every Wikimedia per-language wiki where local admins decide to randomly scoop my edits, they get assigned to the local Joy account, which may or may not have actually been me. The prime example for this was
de:User:Joy (more about that later).
Unfortunately, when I asked
the stewards in June and July 2010, I got nowhere because global admins don't want to do anything the local admins can do, and people didn't seem to care for my somewhat complicated case :/
Since I couldn't cut any corners whatsoever, I had to make progress manually, going through
the list and manually filing for usurpation:
A zero-edit en.wikinews account - asked and
User:Brian moved it away (
[42])
A zero-edit Danish account (
da:User:Joy) - sulutil says 6 edits, but I can't see them over there - asked and
User:Kaare moved it away because it was used to spam (
[43])
A zero-edit en.wikibooks account - asked and
User:Adrignola moved it away (
[44])
A zero-edit en.wikiversity account - asked and
User:SB Johnny moved it away (
[45])
For everything else, I've asked the stewards to help
here. As a result of this action, I asked the various bureaucrats, and as a result of that, these changes came about:
Bangladeshi Wikisource version of what-is-now-JoyBot: asked
User:Bellayet about it
[47] - but they
told me that there are no bureaucrats on that instance, so the stewards would have to do that -
User:PeterSymonds moved it
A zero-edit zh.wikibooks account - asked and
User:Wong128hk moved it away (
[48])
