Jessica Stuart is a Vancouver-born, Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist and composer. She is a professional guitarist, vocalist and koto player (13-stringed traditional Japanese harp) and along with hired work as a side person, she leads folk-jazz power trio, The Jessica Stuart Few. The JSFew is known for its unique sound based on Stuart's unconventional approach to songwriting, and for the innovative use of the Japanese koto in a contemporary singer/songwriter context. Stuart’s songs are adventurous with time signatures, rhythms, and harmony but manage to keep a strong sense of groove that makes the music relatable to the listener.
Aside from The Jessica Stuart Few, Jessica is a current member of blueVenus, Idioteque (Radiohead tribute), Marta Pacek, The Offbeat and Christine Duncan’s Element Choir. She is a former member of Ayahuasca, The Histrionics, Countermeasure Acapella, Ginger & Irene and has been a guest musician with Aurganic, Delta Will, Mimi Osvath, Halabisky’s Uprising, and dozens of others. Her first performing band was a Vancouver punk rock outfit called RUNT.
