According to the Manual of Style, infoboxes are "...neither required nor prohibited for any article. Whether to include an infobox, which infobox to include, and which parts of the infobox to use, is determined through discussion and consensus among the editors at each individual article." In concept, infoboxes are designed to increase readability and add convenience to readers who want to extract small snippets of information from a complicated article. In a lot of cases they perform their intended function very well. Does that mean they work all the time? No.
