In Light Of August is a Canadian Rock duo from Prince Albert Saskatchewan. It was formed by Vocalist, guitarist Adam Meng and Vocalist, guitarist Mitchell Harwood. Although the band formed in 2008 the duo started playing together in 2005 and in 2007 started a band called the War At Home . After Forming the duo began work on their debut album Songs For Your Coffee Break, Which will contain old songs written by the duo as well as new songs. The band hopes to Release the album between October and November.
In Light Of August finds inspiration from bands new school Pop Punk bands like All Time Low, We The Kings, New Found Glory and The Academy Is.... Emo and/ or punk bands such as Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Bedlight for Blue eyes, The Color Fred, Pencey Prep and My Chemical Romance. As well as artists lie The Beatles, City and Colour and Wilco.
In Light sometimes likes to believe they are a new brand of alternative music, being less defined to a certain genre and experimenting with many different types of song's. Knowing full well that playing music the way they choose to in this day in age will get them an emo stamp, but they refuse to let that stop them. They may have messed up lyrics and still consider themselves a pop punk band, but Adam states that he himself chooses to refer to them as more violent pop duo even though it is mostly acoustic instruments.
