Philip E. Robinson, philatelist and local history enthusiast, born 6 April 1948 in Sheffield. Grew up in Hillsborough and has a keen interest in the history of Hillsborough, Owlerton, Wadsley and Malin Bridge. Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London; translator of philatelic books from German into English. Specialist in Imperial Russian postal history, in particular Siberia, also a specialist collector of Queen Victoria line-engraved British stamps. Author or co-author of three standard works on Imperial Russian postmarks: "Siberia - Postmarks and Postal History of the Russian Empire Period" (two editions 1986 and 1990), "Russian Postmarks - an Introduction and Guide" (1989) and "Russian Railway Postmarks (1994; the last two books written jointly with A.V. Kiryushkin). Also author of books on early Siberian postcards, and of over 100 articles in philatelic publications over the past 55 years.
