The grandfathers ( Meitei: Pupu, Ipu) and grandmothers ( Meitei: Abok, Iben) play crucial roles in different elements of Meitei culture, including but not limited to Meitei festivals, Meitei folklore, Meitei folktales, Meitei history, Meitei literature, Meitei mythology, Meitei proverbs, traditional Meitei religion ( Sanamahism), etc.
