Grant Gavin (born April 1, 1983) is an American writer best known for his book A Coach for your Heart. Grant Gavin is an avid adventurer, writer, philosopher, and teacher.

Biography

Grant Gavin was born in Encinitas, California where he spent his childhood. He is the son of Paul and Linda Gavin. He is an only child. In high school, Gavin became very active in competing in Taekwondo; after earning his black belt, he placed 2nd in national sparring competition held in Las Vegas consecutively in 1998 and 1999.

Grant Gavin is an avid adventurer. He has traveled the world surfing places such as Mexico, Fiji, Australia, and Costa Rica. Gavin also enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering, scuba diving, and sailing.

From an early age, Grant Gavin enjoyed reading authors such as Alan Watts, D.T. Suzuki, Huston Smith, and Nisargadatta Maharaj.

In San Diego, he graduated from La Jolla Country Day high school in 2001. Gavin earned a B.A. in History from Trinity University in 2005, and then received an Master of Arts in 2006. Grant was very active in college. He founded Trinity Intellectual Adventure Society (TIAS), played lacrosse, and was in the fraternity Omega Phi.

Grant Gavin is a student of Ken Wilber. He practices Zen meditation.

Gavin met his wife in New Orleans, in 2013, at a Roller derby bout. They currently reside in Denver, Colorado. They have a yellow Labrador Retriever named Bodhi.
