My name is Gerald Black and I'm a retired engineer who worked in the aerospace industry for over 40 years. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences from Princeton University and a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. In my first job at Bell Aerosystems I tested various rocket engines, including the engine for the ascent stage of the Apollo lunar module. Later I worked for 39 years at GE Aircraft Engines in Evendale, Ohio.
I have had a lifelong interest in space travel and am a member of several space related organizations, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the National Space Society, the Planetary Society, and the Mars Society. Currently I am the chair of the Ohio chapter of the Mars Society.
