History

Construction

Bishopsfield's success helped launch Neylan's architecture practice with Bill Ungless, with the two going on to design several other housing projects in the thirty years afterwards. [3] [4]

Demolition threat

In 2008, Harlow District Council estimated that £50,000 of investment per flat would be needed to bring the estate up to 'decent homes' standard, resulting in proposals for the site's demolition. [2] [5] The threat of demolition prompted The Twentieth Century Society to again recommend that the estate be Grade II listed. [5]
